Forum with Gov. Howard Dean – Sun, Jan 12

First Congregational Church of Burlington, Vermont, United Church of Christ, is pleased to announce that Governor Howard Dean will be our special guest during a Forum on Sunday, January 12 at 11:15am – immediately following the 10am worship service.

All in the community are welcome and invited.

In making the announcement, The Rev. Peter Cook, Senior Minister at First Congregational Church said, “Our forum programs are conversational and allow for a variety of topics to be discussed by our guests.  We are excited to have Governor Dean reflect with us on how we can live out our faith in the political arena and nurture our democracy. It is important to create a bridge between our faith and political and civic lives.”

Drawing on his rich experience as Governor of Vermont, a Presidential Candidate, Chairman of the Democratic National Committee, founder of Democracy for America, a member at First Congregational Church in Burlington, and as a political analyst frequently sought out as a guest on network news programs, Governor Dean promises to offer very stimulating insights and perspectives which will be inspiring to all.

The Rev. Peter Cook will facilitate the conversation with Howard Dean exploring topics such as:

  • What are fresh ways that people of all ages can be effectively involved in political and civic life in America?
  • What are the key issues facing our country at this time and how might we as voters, as people of faith, and as potential and current office holders, make our way through the current political and social landscape?
  • What major problems do you see – and where is there hope?
