Welcome Sally May as Interim Associate Minister

Sally MayPlease Welcome Sally May as our Interim Associate Minister

The Board of Trustees is pleased to announce that we have hired Ms. Sally May as our Interim Associate Minister. Sally is a recent graduate of Andover Theological School and has served as a student intern at First Congregational Church in Essex. At present, she is covering Essex’s youth ministry programs for Associate Minister, Rev. Ryan Gackenheimer while he is on sabbatical. Sally recently completed Clinical Pastoral Education at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center and comes highly recommended by her supervisor.

A native Vermonter, Sally has been an active member at the Second Congregational Church, United Church of Christ in Jeffersonville for several years, where she served as a Deacon, had frequent practice preaching and leading worship, and worked closely with The Reverend Mick Comstock on a thoughtful and groundbreaking confirmation program.

Sally is gifted in pastoral care and has an abiding passion for social justice. She is in the very final stages of completing the steps towards ordination and will be seeking a call for a settled position at another church. Pastoral ethics require that she cannot be a candidate for our settled position. She will be licensed by the Vermont Conference to perform all pastoral duties. Sally is scheduled to join us on January 7.

We are also pleased to welcome Sally’s husband, David May, and their three children: Page, Jordan, and Miles. The Trustees wish to thank the Interim Associate Minister Search Committee of Tara Gauding (Chair), Janice Claypoole, Rob Backus, Andy Thomson and Peter Cook for bringing Sally May to us.
