Hurricane Matthew – How to Help

Your Mission Committee met this week as Hurricane Matthew was doing devastating damage to Haiti. As we publish this communication, millions in the U.S. are evacuating coastal towns and cities in our southeastern states. The Mission Committee highly recommends giving in response to Hurricane Matthew through Church World Service. There are several avenues to do this:

  • As 75% of the CROP Hunger Walk funds support Church World Service, you could give a donation to one of our CROP Hunger Walkers this Sunday, October 9. Checks should be made payable to CWS/CROP. There will be offering envelopes in church this Sunday.
  • Support our CROP Team online.
  • Give to CWS Global Emergency Fund through the church (by check to First Congregational Church; MEMO: Hurricane Matthew) or online through our website by selecting “CWS Global Emergency Fund”.
  • Give directly through the CWS Global website.

You can learn more about the response to Hurricane Matthew and the global impact of the mission of Church World Service online at Thank you!

The Mission Committee,
Donna Lee, Ingrid Hafner, Andrea Heller, Steve Dumas and Betsy Freeman
