Christmas Mission & Poinsettia Offering

All are invited to order poinsettias to decorate the church in December and/or give a donation to the Christmas Mission Offering. Donated poinsettias are delivered to home-bound church members after the holiday worship services. Donations to the Christmas Mission offering will be divided evenly between JUMP, the Joint Urban Ministry Project, Inc. and the James Hospital in India.

THE JAMES HOSPITAL: Our congregation has had a significant and positive relationship with the James Hospital in Colachel, India for many years.  The James Hospital provides critical healthcare access to the poorest of India’s population in the most southern region of the country.   Gifts to the Christmas Mission Offering will help the James Hospital provide healthcare to children and adults in need. Members of our congregation have visited Colachel and there is a group meeting to talk about planning a trip. You can contact Director of Outreach Ministries, Lucy Samara to learn more about the trip.

THE JOINT URBAN MINISTRY PROJECT: JUMP provides specific, needed assistance to more than 40 low-income Vermont households each week. JUMP provides warm hospitality, the reliable presence of listening volunteers and staff, practical assistance that empowers recipients to reserve precious financial resources for rent and utility bills, and informed referrals. Our congregation provides JUMP with volunteers, support from staff, $8,000 from the current Mission Budget and donated space for the Drop-In Center and JUMP Office, and parking for volunteers staff and participants.  More than twenty congregations are actively involved in supporting JUMP’s effective, interfaith ministry of thoughtful, practical services that are much needed in our community.  Support from the Christmas Mission Offering will help JUMP provide direct assistance to people – children and adults – in our community.

GIVING TO HONOR OR REMEMBER: Gifts to the Christmas Mission Offering or donations for poinsettias may be made “in honor of” or “in memory of” someone special to you – please circle your choice on the form.

• Gifts and remembrances will be listed in the Christmas Sunday Order of Worship on December 18th.
• Please submit this form (also available at church) before December 14.
• Printed copies of the form can also be found at the church office.
• Please write checks to the First Congregational Church with Christmas Mission and/or Flowers in memo.Thank you.
