February 19 First Church Forum on Opioid Abuse Crisis:
Special Guest Jackie Corbally, BPD Opioid Policy Coordinator
The Adult Education Committee has invited Jackie Corbally, Burlington Police Department Opioid Policy Coordinator, to be our special guest for a Forum, that will follow the 10am worship Service on Sunday, February 19.
Jackie will address the realities of opioid abuse in Vermont, and the challenges and realities of her work with the Burlington Police Department. Vermont Public Radio recently reported that, “In 2012, Vermont had 650 people in some form of treatment for opiate addiction. Today, according to Vermont Department of Health, that number has ballooned to more than 7,500. But the state still lacks the capacity needed to treat all of the addicts seeking help.”
Those interested in learning more prior to the February 19 Forum are encouraged to attend the Wednesday, February 15 public screening of Vermont film: “The Hungry Heart.” If you would like a ride or to carpool from the church to the film, please contact Lucy Samara.
