Women of the Church Book Group
WOC Book Group meets monthly on the 4th Monday at 7:00 PM. Twice a year members select the books to be read in the coming months. Selections range from non-fiction to popular fiction, most often with a compelling social justice theme. Members take turns facilitating discussion. To assure accessibility, books chosen are widely available from libraries and used booksellers. Each June the group gathers to watch a movie together; in December the group gathers to read favorite Christmas poems or short stories aloud. All are welcome; it is not necessary to have read the book to attend. Attendance ranges from as many as 25 to as few as 6. This is an open, inclusive and welcoming group. Anyone who is a book lover will truly enjoy the lively and thought provoking discussion generated during these get-togethers. Some recent book selections were Let the Great World Spin, by Colum McCann; The Help, by Katherine Stockett; The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, by Rebecca Skloot; and The Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother, by Amy Chua.
Men’s Breakfast
Men of the church (members and friends) gather for breakfast the third Tuesday of each month (September to May) at 7:00 a.m. Two of our company prepare breakfast, and then we share fellowship and good food. The price is the cost of the food (usually $3.00 or $4.00, but if you cannot afford it, that’s OK). Help clean up after or, if you have to be at work at 8:00 be on your way.
Yoga for Men & Women
Yoga is a gentle and healthy way to end the work day. A drop-in class is offered Tuesday each week in our Chapel.
Seasonal Clean-Up Work Days
A seasonal clean-up work day is scheduled each spring and fall. Volunteers tackle a variety of indoor and outdoor tasks and help to keep our church home looking great! Come join old friends and meet new… lots of fun… coffee and donuts served, too! (Watch for posting of the next sign-up opportunity).
