Our Music Director Search Committee joyfully announces that our new Music Director, Amy Shortt, will begin her time with First Congregational Church UCC of Burlington, Vermont, on February 15, 2022.

Amy is moving to Vermont from North Carolina with her dog, Tucker, and brings skills with piano and organ, choir directing, musical direction of diverse ensembles and a joyful heart searching for a new church home with us.

Our team welcomes Amy wholeheartedly and enthusiastically, and we can’t wait to introduce her to the congregation. Let us all keep safe and trust that we can be worshiping together and singing joyful noises when Amy arrives!

MORE ABOUT AMY:

Amy Shortt will bring much experience and diverse skills to her role as Director of Music Ministries at First Congregational Church UCC of Burlington. Her education includes a Bachelor of Arts in Piano Performance and Sacred Music from Averett University in Virginia, and a Master of Music from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ. She carries two professional certifications in management from Princeton University, a myriad of professional musical affiliations and recognitions (and she is a certified fitness instructor!). Amy has a passion for mission that has included work supporting Habitat for Humanity. Amy has served in church settings since 2000 as Choirmaster, Organist, Pianist, Director of Music and since 2010, Amy has served as Minister of Music at Lakeside Baptist Church in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. Amy has directed choirs for all age levels and has experience leading handbell choirs. Amy’s professional reputation is one of program building as she has successfully led sacred music programs to grow in attendance, musicianship, and spirit.
