- *Rev. Gary Lewis, our guest minister on March 17, 2019, retired from the Vergennes Congregational Church UCC in May 2018, following nearly 29 years of service to church and community. Gary and his wife, Betty, moved to Williston and joined the Williston Federated Church, where they sing in the choir and enjoy coffee hour. Forty years ago, Gary and Betty joined First Congregational Church UCC of Burlington. They moved to southern Vermont in 1983 and three years later to Lancaster, PA so Gary could attend seminary. In 1989, following graduation, he was called to the Vergennes Church. Gary earned a doctoral degree (DMin) from Hartford Seminary in 2005. He is now in formal training as a Spiritual Director.

January 13, 2019: It is with great joy that we announce that at today’s Congregational Meeting, the gathered congregation unanimously approved the recommendation from our Settled Minister Search Committee that Rev. Elissa Johnk be called to serve as the next Minister of First Congregational Church UCC of Burlington! Rev. Johnk has formally accepted our call and will begin her ministry with us on April 9. She will begin leading worship services on Palm Sunday, April 14.
