Fifty years ago, the widow of the United States Ambassador to the United Nations, Warren R. Austin, donated money to our church to be used in her husband’s memory. After much thought and consideration by The Rev. George Lawrence, two octaves of Schulmerich handbells were purchased and the handbell program at First Church was born. Since then, the Austin Handbell Choir has been an integral and beloved part of our worship program.
Mark your calendar and join us for a special “Golden Anniversary Concert” on Sunday, December 15 at 3 p.m., followed by a reception. Ringers from years past will join new ringers, and the choir will take a musical and video journey through the past five decades!
