“Facing Climate Chaos with Hope and Action: Empowering People of Faith and Spirit”
Saturday, November 16, here at First Church. This all-day conference will feature Keynote Speaker, Dr. Stephanie Kaza – a practicing Buddhist, author, and UVM Environmental Studies Program Director; workshops on solar energy; advocacy; “green” liturgies & worship materials; and forming/ building up congregational “Green Teams.” An optional pre-conference workshop on hope and despair (Joanna Macy style) starts the day. August First provides lunch, and a contingent of the Burlington area a cappella group, Social Band, will sing.
Workshop topics include: tapping solar energy; mobilizing for advocacy; building congregation earth care groups; and developing “green” liturgies. Sponsors of the conference include: Building Energy, Efficiency Vermont, Episcopal Diocese Earth Stewards Committee, VT Solar Engineering, National Wildlife Federation, Reiss Building and Renovation, The Preservation Trust of Vermont, and VPIRG.
